Humpback
During a few months, the humpback whales migrate from Alaska to Hawaii, to spend the winter in the whale sanctuary around the islands. We had finally made the trip to Maui, to go out into the water on a whale watching boat. It was incredible! Nearby, at an information station, stood a beautiful bronze statue of a humpback whale. This painting is based on that statue. Used were metallic watercolor paints, which add a nice shimmer to the piece. Stonehenge Aqua Black watercolor paper. 2024. Sunrise
The sun was just peeking over the mountains in Moab, Utah as we waited for the van that would take us to the site for our hot air balloon ride over Arches National Park.
